help. The Driving School was Great. What a hoot! I
have noticed that I drive differently (better) after having learned
things I knew or thought I knew, under the extreme conditions of the
Talladega Track. I learned how to drive on ice growing up in
Nebraska, but I haven't applied those principals in every day driving
until now. I'm a better and safer driver now, and the best part is
that it was great fun too! ________________ "it was well organized, and each group (A,B,C)
had an instructor in the car until the driver was "released" to drive
alone. Hot lunch was provided, as was some classroom instruction.
I would say that the drivers, especially new to road racing, learned
more with this method than track days done at RA by Panoz - no
comparison.." ________________ "Indeed Rob runs an excellent school. I've
been to a ton of them over the years, and this one excels in - ________________ "I can't say
enough about the course. I now know the limits of my car, and have
the know-how to drive much safer on the roads each day. On top of
that, Bavarian did a great job of getting me ready for track day!" ________________ 9 August, 2004 Robbie is a master at organizing and directing an event of this caliber. Classroom academics were very fundamental in understanding all aspects of the day’s driving experience. Course layout, preferred track lines, apex negotiation, driver rules and courtesies were thoroughly covered. Over and under-steer, skid and spin control were all part of the curriculum prior to moving onto the track for the remainder of the day. One-on-one SCCA certified instruction was provided during the first phase of track time. This is where I learned the true limits of my vehicle, as well as those of myself (or lack thereof)! Driver instruction was awesome, in as much as I was shown new techniques and limitations, that street driving alone could have never safely presented. After drivers were released by their instructors within their given classes, Robbie opened the track for the remainder of the day for lap time. Special thanks go to Master Chef Carl Stephens who served a great lunch to all who participated. In retrospect, this track event granted more knowledge gleaned, skills acquired and lessons learned than any of my previous experiences; to include events at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta. It was also an exceptional bargain for the value of the day-long experience. I would urge everyone who owns a sports car to take the challenge, which Robbie and his team can provide, at the Talladega Grand Prix raceway in Anderson, Alabama. We feel that after having done this, both my wife and I are safer, more confident drivers and now have a true respect for our own limitations as well as the capabilities of our Corvette. Thanks to all for a wonderful
experience, |
